 Welcome to GCNUG...

Welcome to the Greater Charleston .NET User Group (GC.NUG)!

We're an INETA and Microsoft sponsored .NET user group for people in Charleston, SC and the surrounding areas. If you have experience with .NET, or an interest in learning more then this is the place for you. We typically meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6:00pm at Benefit Focus on Daniel Island.

We welcome everyone from newbies to seasoned .NET veterans. All we ask is that you stay moderately on-topic and also respect others on this list. Friendly discussion (and even some arguing) is fine, but persistent flaming or "platform bashing" will not be tolerated.

Topic 1

We’re going to explore Windows Mobile development a little deeper with demonstrations and code starting with a “Hello World” using SMS. From there we’ll learn how to take back control of our mobile phones using the State and Notifications Broker to intercept and process incoming phone calls. Finally we’ll take a peek at using the GPS API and how to use it.

Topic 2

There are several community events in the works for the coming months and we want you to have a part in planning them. These events include the Community-Launch, DotNet University and Code Camp.

Presenter

Lou Vega is a founding member and current president of the Greater Charleston .NET User group. He is very dedicated in a wide variety of areas relating to software development and community involvement. He’s spoken at several code camps. He works as a software engineer for CSSI, Inc. He’s an MCAD and MCSD for .NET and has been developing in .NET since 2002 with experience writing Active Directory management applications for large scale deployments. In late 2004 he began development of a Pocket PC Aviation Weather program for the U.S. Navy and enjoyed working on that so much he’s been hooked on mobile applications since then!
